Hounded Again

In Matthew 23:13 Jesus said, "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to." Condemning words to be sure.John's Gospel tells of one man, a Pharisee and member of the Jewish ruling council named Nicodemus, who was the exception to what Jesus said in Matthew. Nicodemus set aside his long and strongly held beliefs because he saw what Jesus was doing and knew it meant God had to be with Him. His willingness to consider the possibility that his beliefs didn't represent the truth was rewarded with enlightenment. Sadly, even having the advantage of Jesus' teachings, many religious leaders of our time are less like Nicodemus and more like those who Jesus complained about for shutting 'the kingdom of heaven in men's faces'.If you're willing, as Nicodemus was, to consider an alternative explanation to some long-held beliefs, this book is a must read for you.
