Mrs. Gehret puts on extraordinary amount of time into her literature and it shows. I know her personally and she has years of experience in the field of learning development. I would recommend her books (esp Houdini's Gift) to any educator and/or parent. Enjoy!

I raised a child with ADD. It was frustrating and discouraging. Houdini's Gift would have been great because it would have been a tool my child and I could have shared. This book however goes above and beyond helping with ADD and ADHD. This is a great tool for parents and their children, or teachers and their students to use for responsibility and memory issues.

Houdini's Gift is a simply yet profound story that normalizes what so many children struggle with. Jeanne Gehret has created a wonderful story that will help children get in touch with what they are capable of, instead of feeling deficient! The discussion starters at the back of the book are particularly helpful for parents and counselors to use with young children. Gehret's books are a lot fun, but can also be used in the context of bibliotherapy to help young children cope.
Delightful lesson

Great sequel to Eagle Eyes ! My son, Michael, who has ADHD related to Ben, the books character, from the author's other book Eagle Eyes. If you are a parent of a child with learning disabilities; you already know he/she most likely has problems remembering things. The way Ben is motivated by his parents to get a pet by using the chart is clever. The chart helped Ben to focus and gave him time to learn his lesson. It is a wonderful and uplifting way of handling a delicate situation. Michael loves this book and picks it to read from his book shelf all the time. Gehret filled this book with colorful pictures and stuffed it with fun animals. She seems to really understand her little readers joys. Just this morning Michael asked me to get another book about Ben.

I wish I had read this book, and Ms. Gehret's other books, when my son was younger. They were shown to me by a friend, and her suggestions on how to help, and motivate a forgetful child are wonderful. I can understand why children want to read them over and over.
