When Chris Santini joins Alden's hockey team, the players are shocked to learn she's a girl. But Chris can skate, pass, and shoot with the best of them, and the Panthers are glad to have her. But will... This description may be from another edition of this product.
When the Alden Panthers find out their future star left-winger is a girl most of the team is mad. "We just can't have a girl on our team," one of the players, Josh, said. "All we have to do is treat her like a girl. We won't check her because we'er afraid to hurt her. We won't joke around with her because we're scared we might hurt her feelings. Once Coach sees how differently we traet her, he'll bench her for sure. Maby even cut her from the team." In the first game the coach put Chris in Josh's position as first line left wing, and Josh was put back to defense. Chris helps make some really great plays and even scores a goal, but none of the Panthers acknowledge her. She "looked like she was ready to sock someone." A few weeks later, during lunch, Chris announces that she is sick of everyone thinking she is a boy. Later that day, before the game, the announcer announces "Christina" instead of Chris. The other team will not touch her because she is a girl. The coach from the other team files a complaint that it's not fair to have a girl on the team because they can't chack her. The head of the conference says that the Panthers broke conference rules and they might have to forfeit the whole season. The Panthers joing together and fight for Chris to stay a Panther, and for girls to be able to play hockey.
