The cover of this book is a recent attempt to recreate a lost painting I did at the age of seventeen, called HOT or COLD. The painting depicts a volcano and a snow-capped mountain under the corresponding hot to cold colors of the sky, and a spilled glass in the foreground, as a portrayal of Jesus' words in Revelation 3:16: "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth". This stark warning is to turn us wholeheartedly back to God. Two other "3:16" verses also penned by John speak of God's love extended to us (John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."), and our response to that love (1 John 3:16): "...and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."
