This book was not planned. It emerged. Over the course of our combined clinical and coaching practice at Dr. RAD The Attachment Code Breaker in Lakeland, Florida, we began noticing a thread running through the stories of clients who initially presented with wildly different concerns. One came in describing anxiety so chronic she could not remember the last time she felt calm in her own home. Another described a pattern of rage episodes that he could not explain - outbursts that seemed disproportionate to the situations that triggered them. A third, a father of three, sat across from us and said, plainly: "I don't know why I'm always angrier at my kids than I am at the people who actually make me angry." Displacement. It kept appearing, wearing different costumes. In one session, it looked like a husband who came home from a humiliating interaction with his employer and within twenty minutes had argued with his wife over the placement of dishes. In another, it looked like a mother who had never resolved her own childhood wounds and found herself, without understanding why, snapping at the child who reminded her most of herself. In workplace consultations, it appeared as a manager who, after a dressing-down from senior leadership, turned the hallways of his department into a minefield for his subordinates. None of these individuals were, at their core, cruel people. They were dysregulated people who had never been taught to trace the origin of their anger - to follow the emotional thread back to the source instead of releasing it at whoever was nearest, safest, and least able to retaliate.
