GR was born with Cystic Fibrosis. She has spent a lot of time in Children's Hospital since she was born. When she was hospitalized at a young age she found coloring to be a calming and helpful activity. She was also constantly worried that her peers would make fun of or bully her for being sick and in the hospital (something she personally experienced) and wanted to shed light on the topic. Every time she would be in the hospital friends and family would say "You're my Hero " This led to her graphic novel/coloring book.
GR came up with the concept in second grade, when she would deliver self-made coloring books to kids in the hospital during the holidays. She decided to publish this one as she continues to see scared children in the hospital and wanted a way to share her empathy. The Hospital Heroes in this particular graphic novel are actually some of the people she's met along the way.
