From the walls of Troy to our modern world, "Horsesh*t" is a hilarious but foul-mouthed -to say nothing of politically incorrect- trip down memory lane narrated by history's most unusual witness. It combines both fact and fiction in a way that sticks to your mind like glu... okay, maybe not that. No, one hundred percent factual the book is not, and dates and figures are few and far between, but the bits of fancy that are included are easy enough to spot, and over all it is both entertaining and thoroughly researched. On the downside, unlike most history books, it won't replace your sleeping pills. No, this is not your high school teacher's version of history -not unless your teacher was itching to get fired- nor does it claim to be comprehensive, but it does manage to hit a fair share of the highlights, and it presents what is at times a surprisingly moving insight into what makes humans tick. A fair warning though: this book is not for fans of trigger warnings.
