As they rounded a bend in the road something hit the windscreen Annabel let out a cry of terror "What was that," she asked hands over her mouth. "Just a bird," Ronnie said, but he had to put the wipers on to get rid of the stain on the glass. Then another hit the side window next to Ronnie then another and another. The car was being hit from all sides, and in the light from the headlights he could see that they were bats. "Fucking bats," he cursed as his wife screamed besides him. He could not see a thing now and then the back window burst inwards, and the bats swarmed inside the car. Ronnie took his hands from the steering wheel, and began hitting at the bats around him with his hands the squealing nose was horrible. The car crashed through the bollards at the side of the road and went over the edge. It fell as if in slow motion for a second, and then speeded up and crashed onto the rocks below the sea sweeping over the ruined car.
