Through the use of brief rhyming phrases, each number up to 20 in the Hopi language is taught to the reader as well as the pronunciation of each.An illustration accompanies each number and depicts a scene from Hopi tribal life. At the bottom of each rhyming page, there is a brief description of the particular element of Hopi culture depicted in each illustration as well as a colorful Hopi symbol. Henderson Yazzi(a successful Native American artist from the historically important Yazzi family of artists) has illustrated the Hopi Counting Book. Each bright, intricate illustration is a work of art unto itself.
