Everyone has a story but many go unheard, I thank God for granting me an opportunity to share my story. You have probably heard or seen many children sponsored through Compassion International or other charitable organizations, laboring to help children out of poverty all over the world. Have you ever wondered where those children end up or the kind of adults they grow up to become?I am among the finished products of Compassion International's ministry in Uganda. In this book, I walk you through the journey of my life; the intriguing story of how I was born, how poverty/suffering came into my family and how I actually ended up in a Compassion program. I share with you my experience of having a sponsor and what that really meant to me, how I explored the journey of my school life and all the challenges I faced growing up. Discover how the impact of God's word that I learnt from my Compassion project enabled me to endure and overcome all through these difficult times.Mine has a happy ending, with the experience of going through college and becoming the first graduate in my entire family, getting married and finally coming to the United States. I'm convinced that God has been so good to me and one of the goals of my writing this book, is to share with you a testimony of God's faithfulness in my life over the years.Secondly, I'm convinced through my sponsorship experience that Compassion International's model of child development is highly exceptional. There are several organizations with child sponsorship programs but Compassion is among the few that put God's word at the center of their work. Beyond meeting physical needs, children need God's word. No one can transform a human being without the work of His creator; Compassion mastered this and their impact is greatly felt as they help release children from poverty in Jesus' name. My prayer and desire is that whoever is giving or contributing in any way towards those living in poverty all over the world will be encouraged through my story. So that they will know that their support makes a huge difference and it means so much. Thank you Harriet. N. Okumu nakaht2007@yahoo.com
