It's not every day that an individual with no knowledge of police work, except what they see on television, gets to aid in an investigation. However, this is exactly what happened to Dorothy "Dot" Jones. She went to work for Se?n Tuachair, a retired Homicide Lieutenant, who had opened a bookkeeping/tax office, as his office assistant. When her world was turned upside down, she had to figure out what to do:

She couldn't believe that once again she was asked to help him work on another murder investigation.. To be honest, after she considered her option of either living a dull life or being involved in a real-life police investigation, she chose the latter.

She, of course, had the hardest job, trying to keep Se?n focused as he conducted his part of the investigation while his sister was nearby. It would be quite easy for him to get sidetracked if something else seemed more important to him than what he was working on, especially if he had family talking with him every day. However, before they could even get their lives were put in danger. They had to dodge one threat after another as they raced to win this race before they became the next victim.
