Honor and Duty or Love, Jack must make the choice. Whichever he chooses may cause him to lose the other.
Friends traveled from across the country to attend the wedding of Jack Sage and Grace Blakely. After the tragic murder of his first wife and infant, Jack believed there would never be another woman for him. But after years of blasting sixguns, Jack finds the second love he has hoped for but never expected.
The wedding brings the abundant happiness he has missed for so many years. And to enhance the promise of a wonderful life, Grace brings to their family two sons who swell Jack's heart with all the joy he has missed. But at the reception, where laughter and happiness abound, the army charges in with news which lowers a pall of gloom over the gathering.
Two deputy U.S. Marshals have been murdered in the Indian Territory. Each died from strangulation of a hangman's noose, similar to Jack's experience, which left him with a ring of livid scar tissue around his neck. Unfortunately, unlike Jack, these lawmen could not escape. To make matters worse, Jack is the only marshal available to pursue these cruel murderers. He must decide whether to answer the call of duty and leave his bride and two sons, or stick to his promise to Grace, and turn his back on the law and his brother officers.
To which will Jack Sage turn? Will he hold to his love, or follow the Honor of the Star?
