A guaranteed good time

Originally posted at [...] If books by JL Wilson aren't on your "auto buy" list they should be. Threemie, Mary Margaret Madison, is the type of woman you'd want as your best friend. She's smart, funny, caring, thoughtful, loyal, quirky and just plain nice. She is also more educated than a person has a right to be. She's in a bit of a romantic slump since her ex ran off with his midlife crisis, but she keeps busy. There's work, her friends, and she carries a cell phone for the unemployment crisis hotline. (JL Wilson's books make me laugh out loud.) And then, of course, she witnesses something strange in the parking ramp next to the hospital while on the way to sit with a dying friend. It was strange, but she doesn't really think it's anything to worry about until she sees a television report about a murder on the news. Enter grouchy, good looking Detective Marcus Sloan. Actually, he's the second guy to enter. First comes Bill Manion the hunky retired John Deere Mechanic. Manion is a nice guy who's unlucky in love. A nice guy who, for reasons we don't understand at first, is being targeted by some low life bent or ruining his life. Bill doesn't act like a victim or even think he is one which makes him even more likeable. Two, well, three main characters, two mysteries, one steamy romance, and a host of fun and funny secondary characters make this a book you won't want to put down. I couldn't. Homicides, Hostages and Hot Rod Restoration is a guaranteed good time.
