Hometown Heroes depicts the journey of three NBA players from their humble beginnings. All three were born and raised in countries outside the United States, in communities of people with great need and limited opportunities. This book details how each player has used his social status to impact both his childhood community and his new surroundings in the United States. While Joel Embiid, Manute Bol, and Al Horford have achieved great notoriety for their masterful athletic skills and prowess on the basketball court, their contributions off the court are what truly sets them apart. All three have made lasting impacts in peoples' lives by assuming leadership roles in their communities. In short, they have provided opportunities and hope to those who need it most. Each chapter is written in English then translated to the most common language of the players' home countries. The translations were added to be able to share these stories with the people of these player's hometowns, as well as reach more people with these incredible stories. All profits of Hometown Heroes will be donated to Doctors Without Borders. The profits will be sent directly to its COVID-19 Crisis Fund to help people around the world suffering from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
