Resource for any mom

This is a comprehensive resource that is worthwhile for any mom, new or old. Written from a Christian perspective by a registered nurse, the book offers helpful down-to-earth tips, healthful advice, and spiritual insights that make it valuable on many levels. Shelly Burke's style is very comforting--like sitting down with a friend over a cup of coffee and discussing everyday home life issues. She doesn't preach or overwhelm with unrealistic advice, but speaks from experience and her own faith. This book would make the ideal gift for an expectant mother!

A Handy Mom Guide

What a handy guide to being a mom! This book is very real life, and who better to get advice from than someone who has first hand experience? Mrs. Burke has reassured me that when taking care of my family, there is no 'by the book', but to do what works for my family and myself. Home is Where the Mom Is has so much information that I haven't put it down since I first bought it years ago. It is a reference book in my home. This book is a must read for all moms, stay at home or not.

An easy read & reference for all Mom!

I love this book and after reading through once, I have continued to go back to sections as various family/household issues arise. While I disagree with some of the advice given in the "organizing your finances" section (spouses keeping separate accounts as an option, advocating the "building up" of credit), overall I think this book has a wealth of knowledge applicable to anyone running a household. I particularly liked the sections on establishing a "never run out" method of maintaining a full pantry/fridge & freezer/medical kit to avoid any kind of shopping emergencies. I EVERYONE (young or old, new or experienced mom...even dad's too!) can learn something from it. I have dog-eared my own copy and have given it as a gift...recommended!

Has changed my home life

Home Is Where The Mom Is has changed my home life for the better! This book gave me hundreds of ideas to improve the way I run my home. I have two children ages 7 and 13, things can get a little busy and rushed around here, but now I feel like I have a new feeling of control that I didn't have before. It's a must read for any Mom... home or not!

Home is Where the Mom Is

This book is a must have for moms. It discusses ways to cope with the stresses of being a mom as well as helping moms focus on the joys that go with motherhood. The scripture references that the author uses are very appropriate for the subject matter and they are helpful to read to build up one's spiritual well being. Also, I enjoyed the chapter on renewing and maintaining your relationship with your husband. So often moms focus on their children and tend to overlook the needs of the spouse to help maintain the family unit. The suggestions in this chapter were very practical and useful and they really work! I recommend this book to any mom who is serious about improving all areas of their life as a mom.
