They say home is where the heart is, but what if your heart is broken? What if the walls are bare, the windows shattered, and everyone's gone?
How do I write a description for a book telling the story of my life, make it enticing to read? How do I market my struggles, my pain, my thoughts, emotions, experiences? It's not about money. It's about getting my word out, about giving a voice to the unspeakable, giving a voice to those who never had a chance to explain their side of the story. These poems are about love, loss, unity, community, hope, and the different realities that others and myself live.
This book is about home: the foundation of who we are. A house is not a home; however, it is often people, experiences, comfort, and safety. Some don't have a home, whether it be physical or metaphoric, some don't have either; they shouldn't be forgotten. I lost my home. I never didn't have a roof over my head which I'm thankful for, but these walls didn't offer comfort. Yes, they shielded me from the elements, but it was never the same; what I lost, I felt I could never get back.
I want to thank you for reading my book, and if you don't, I appreciate you taking the time to even read this; I know how precious time is. Everything I have, all that I am, has been put into this book. These poems are the literary embodiment of my soul, my most vulnerable self, and I happily share them with you.Related Subjects
