I'm well into my second decade of homeschooling, am Catholic and have a big family. Even though this is written by what one reviewer derisively called a "fundie" there is a lot of wisdom and humor in here that is obviously born of a solid prayer life. It put me at ease years ago when I started out - as opposed to other how-to books that make the job seem overwhelming - and has always been my favorite book to loan new homeschoolers. It inspired me to write my own brand of big family homeschool humor!

This is a fantastic book full of great, godly encouragement! Every homeschooler/home educator needs to possess this kind of confidence. This book is so great, I bought two! One for my personal use and one as a loaner. Well worth the buy! *Ü*
Highly recommend! Encouraging and practical!

Packed full of encouragement and wisdom, this is a must-read for home educating parents. From making the decision to home educate to career planning the book is full of practical tips. The book covers topics such as analyzing your reasons for home education, spritual education, curriculum, how to plan and organize, discipline (very balanced!), the father's role in home education, socialization and preparing for a career. I have read many home education books, but this is truly one of the most practical and encouraging books you will find.

It seems that everyone has an opinion on homeschooling - especially those who don't homeschool! Rick Boyer gives you factual, positive reasons to support your decision to homeschool. He helps take the fear out of making the decision to homeschool. Even if you never homeschool, he gives a great perspective on the importance of your involvement in your child's education. An easy read.
