Holystic Honza

This is the story of Honza, the only child of a Czech family raised as a Jehovah Witness by his mother. Organized religion was anathema under communist rule and members were always at risk of a crackdown by the Party.
The chapters follow Honza's upbringing in the faith despite his father's opposition, and the clandestine preaching and worship meant to nurture his beliefs. They leave him withdrawn, isolated and an easy target at school.
As he reaches adulthood, he begins to question the tenets and intolerance of both the regime and religion, leading him to embark on a journey of self-discovery. The Velvet Revolution of 1989 intervenes in the meantime, revealing a whole new and different world to him.
