A Great Book by a Great Teacher

Back in 1997, James Ponti was my Creative Writing teacher at Full Sail. In one of his classes, he had a movie trivia game where the prize was an autographed copy of his book, "Hollywood East." As you may imagine, it's quite outdated, but it's a good resource for finding out what movies were made in Miami prior to the early 90s. The only movie that I didn't see listed was 1979's "Hot Stuff," a movie starring (and directed by) Dom DeLuise. However, considering how forgettable that movie was, the omission is somewhat acceptable. As a teacher, Ponti was entertaining, informative, and inspirational. I may not yet be at the level that he's at (my "Joey the Film Geek" web site is purely a hobby, my screenplays suck, and even though the infomercials I wrote were aired, they're junk), but I haven't given up yet. The most valuable thing he ever taught in class was that if you truly loved writing, you'll NEVER give it up... so I haven't. Thanks, James!
