Hollywood Bad Boys

Part of the Encore Film Book Classics series, this is a reprint of the original text to Hollywood Bad Boys by James Robert Parish. Which hunky Baldwin brother has a tendency to go ballistic? Which legendary rebel was known as "the human ashtray" throughout Los Angeles' S&M clubs? Can you recount the number of times Robert Downey Jr. was sent to the slammer? It's tough to keep track of the many escapades and misadventures of Tinseltown's baddest boys? But with Hollywood Bad Boys, celebrity watchers can easily follow the fascinating stories of the screen's most infamous rascals and rogues over many decades. This volume provides a provocative look into the wild lives of 70 of Hollywood's most notable hellions, both past and present. Included are individual mini chapters on each of the sinful stars, revealing their often troubled childhoods and charting their collision courses with fame . . . and infamy. The bad boy celebrities detailed are: Ben Affleck, Roscoe "Fatty" Arbuckle, Alec Baldwin, John Barrymore, Warren Beatty, John Belushi, Robert Blake, Humphrey Bogart, Marlon Brando, Todd Bridges, Gary Busey, Charlie Chaplin, Montgomery Clift, Steve Cochran, Bob Crane, Bing Crosby, Russell Crowe, James Dean, Johnny Depp, Andy Dick, Kirk Douglas, Robert Downey Jr., Chris Farley, W.C. Fields, Errol Flynn, Mark Frechette, Clark Gable, John Gilbert, Kelsey Grammer, Hugh Grant, Rodney Harvey, Pee-wee Herman, Howard Hughes, Don Johnson, Paul Kelly, Peter Lawford, Rob Lowe, Dean Martin, Steve McQueen, Robert Mitchum, Eddie Murphy, Tom Neal, Jack Nicholson, Nick Nolte, Sean Penn, Matthew Perry, River Phoenix, Elvis Presley, Richard Pryor, George Raft, Wallace Reid, Brad Renfro, Burt Reynolds, Mickey Rourke, Tupac Shakur, Charlie Sheen, O. A GOOD READ ABOUT BAD BOYS

THIS IS A GOOD READ ABOUT SOME OF THE BAD BOYS OF HOLLYWOOD. AMONG THE MALE ACTORS COVERED ARE BEN AFFLECK, JAMES DEAN, DEAN MARTIN AND BURT REYNOLDS. THE STORIES ARE 4-5 PAGES BUT ARE PACKED WITH DETAILED INFO CONCERNING DRUGS, DRINKING AND SEXUAL BEHAVIOR THAT WILL SHOCK ALOT OF PEOPLE. I REALLY ENJOYED THIS WELL WRITTEN AND INTERESTING BOOK. I HAVE ALSO READ HOLLYWOOD BOOK OF SCANDALS BY THIS AUTHOR AND ENJOYED BOTH VERY MUCH. IF YOU ARE CURIOUS ABOUT THE SCANDAL CONCERNING THE SO CALLED STARS OF HOLLYWOOD THEN THIS IS FOR YOU. VERY RECOMMENDED.

"Bad Boys Bound Between Covers"

What do Charlie Chaplin, W. C. Fields, and Dean Martin have in common? In addition to passing away on Christmas Day in their respective years of death, all 3, along with 67 others, appear in"Hollywood Bad Boys," from the prolific pen of James Robert Parish. From Ben Affleck to Gig Young (Oscar winners both), you get a succint account of the lives (and, in 37 cases, the deaths) of the notables and the wannabes, that, for better or worse, made the American entertainment industry what it is today. If you like E!'s "True Hollywood Story" and "Mysteries and Scandals," you'll love "Hollywood Bad Boys."

Getting Past the Tabloids

This is a fascinating look at Hollywood history. Bad behavior is as old Hollywood and bad boys go back to the earliest days. But this is not a simple recap of tabloid stories; this is an indepth look the backgrounds and careers of these bad boys. It also traces the consequences of this bad behavior. The book could also serve as a cautionary tale; much of this bad behavior is the result of booze and/or drugs and in many cases derailed or completely destroyed promising careers. I recommend this highly interesting book.

Entertaining & well-written

You might think this book just represents a tabloid-type recap of the scandals we all know about already. You'd be wrong. This book was obviously very well researched. Parish presents detailed facts about our favorite "bad" boys, written in an entertaining style. It also covers an impressive scope, including not just current stars (Hugh Grant, Ben Affleck, etc.) but also those of yesteryear. You won't be disappointed.

"Bad Boys" Make Good Reading

This is one of those great books you start flipping through because you recognize a lot of the names. And let's be honest, when it comes to the rich and famous, we all enjoy hearing a little bit of scandal. What's best about this book is that it doesn't stick solely to the headline troublemakers of today like Robert Downey Jr. and Hugh Grant. The book goes back in time to actors like Montgomery Clift and John Wayne (who wasn't always the noble cowboy he appeared) as well as to actors I had never even heard of. Because those stories were new to me, they were the ones I found most fascinating. The book does a great job covering the scope of Hollywood's darker history.
