When Gemma Hanson moved to Hollow's Bend in 1985, she had no idea "surviving high school" would be so literal.
Legend says the mining town is haunted, though no one can agree on why. In only a few days, Gemma's heard countless theories, from ghostly miners to plain old faulty wiring, but most people say the strange happenings are just a side effect of amyrium, the ethereal glowing stone found only in Hollow's Bend.
Gemma's never put much stock in ghost stories herself. However, when a debate about the town's "hauntings" provides an opportunity to make friends on her first day of school, Gemma invites four classmates from varying social circles to a fake seance. She doesn't think it will actually work, of course. But when the seance goes wrong and a spirit accidentally possesses Gemma, she and her new friends discover a dark world of entities trapped in their small town.
The teens race to decipher the mysteries of the spirit realm, as supernatural nightmares, shifting objects, and ancient spells clash with high school life. To make matters worse, the accidental possession draws the attention of a vengeful spirit cult whose leader seizes one of their classmates as her vessel.
With the boundary between worlds unraveling, the only hope of saving Hollow's Bend from becoming a ghost town in the truest sense lies with Gemma, her newfound friends, and the mysterious spirit she just can't seem to get out of her head.
