Hollow Earth

By: Langholm, Erik

Beneath mountains, oceans, and polar ice, countless traditions have whispered of a world within-a realm of light hidden beneath the crust of the Earth. In Hollow Earth, Erik Langholm follows this enduring vision from its mythic origins to its scientific, occult, and modern incarnations.

Drawing on rare maps, expedition journals, and esoteric writings, the book traces the evolution of the Hollow Earth idea-from the subterranean kingdoms of Agartha and Shambhala to the polar openings proposed by Halley, Symmes, and later explorers who sought gateways to the inner world. Along the way, Langholm explores the strange intersections of faith and physics, where Theosophists, mystics, and geologists alike looked toward the poles and wondered what lay beyond the known.

Through the voyages of Admiral Byrd, the cryptic theories of early seismologists, and the echoes of ancient cosmologies, Hollow Earth reveals a centuries-long dialogue between science and imagination. It is a journey through the tunnels of myth, where luminous cities, inner suns, and the pulse of the living planet merge into one haunting question: what if the greatest frontier has always been beneath our feet?
