Robert Mitchum and Janet Leigh feature in the 1949 light romantic comedy movie Holiday Affair, which is shot in black and white. Don Hartman, who also produced and directed this understated movie, allowed actor Robert Mitchum to briefly stray from his usual roles in film noir, Westerns, and war movies. It was based on John D. Weaver's short tale of the same name, which also served as the movie's working title. The movie, which takes place around Christmas, did not earn favorable reviews when it first came out. However, the movie's Christmas airing on Turner Favorite Movies has helped it become a minor holiday classic. In 1996, a made-for-television remake of Holiday Affair was created. A veteran and vagrant named Steve Mason (Robert Mitchum) works as a clerk at Crowley's over the holiday season.
