This had me out loud laughing several times! One of the funny times was the feet pics. I pictured granny feet right along with the 20-yr-old's perfect plastic other body parts and then some old wrinkled feet that didn't match the rest of the body. You'll know what I'm talking about when you read this. And you do need to read this book!
Here's a granny quote:
"'My stars,'" Greta said, wiping sweat from her forehead. 'It’s so hot, a chicken could lay an omelet!'"
And once you get into this story you'll know why Nikki used the alias "Peach" while she was undercover helping solve a crime. There was one point Grandma Geraldine temporarily blew Nikki's cover, but Nikki quickly covered up the mistake. I was laughing so hard! Here's the excerpt:
"'We would like to talk to you about the reunion,' Grandma said, 'but first, Nikki has to use the bathroom.' [Preston] looked confused. 'Who’s Nikki?' 'Uh, that’s my nickname,' I said quickly. 'It’s short for nicotine. I’m a heavy smoker.'" 🤣
But there was some seriousness amongst the chaos and hilarity. Nikki's Grandma asked her if she was happy and what her plans for the future were. Nikki really began questioning herself and she asked some of the grannies the same questions her grandma asked her. The grannies were full of big future plans and were obviously happy. Nikki, not so much.
Nikki then asked Owen, her crush who is also the local detective if he was happy and if he had plans for the future. Owen asked her why she was asking him such questions, but only after he told her his answers. Owen then told her:
"'Nikki, it’s okay not knowing where you’re headed. I think the most important thing is knowing where you are. Today, the only day you’ve been guaranteed, you are surrounded by people who love you.'"
Nikki and Owen then had "a moment" that brought a tear to Nikki's eyes.
This was great!
Next in this series and the book I've already started is "Seas the Day," and based on the title and the end of the current book, the grannies, Nikki, and Owen are going on a cruise to Cozumel, Mexico to visit their friend, Alice. Oh, you know it'll be crazy in that ship!!
