When Hal moves to a new town and joins the soccer team, he quickly realizes that he is not the star athlete of the team and so must learn to adjust to being a good team player in order to get along with everyone.
It's not great literature by any means, but this has been one of my son's favorite books since he was about 4 years old. Now that he's almost 7, it's a perfect book for him to read to ME. His twin sister has always enjoyed it as well. It's funny cause even though it is very simple and predictable, the kids seem to really enjoy the simplicity and predictability of it. It's also got a number of very good messages about being a good sport, teamwork, listening to the coach, etc.
