The Cost of Getting Money

Five best friends go from college students to robbers and murderers in HITTIN' NUMBERS by Unique J. Shannon. Tre'Von, Don Q, Bezo, Will, and Sparks all come from different backgrounds. When they meet at Howard University and form a lasting bond they become brothers. Known as the Tree Top Crew the five guys are living it up at school, partying, going to class, enjoying life, and getting ready for Spring Break when Will hears news that can jeopardize his returning to school after the break. When the rest of the group find out, they decide to do whatever it takes to keep Will in school. To get the money they need, TTC accepts a job from Sparks' uncle to rob a numbers spot. After a successful robbery each has his own money and Will can get back into school. However, what started out as a one time event turns into a series of robberies and murders when they are robbed of the money they stole during their first heist. They plan a three heist spree that will leave them rich but ultimately test the brotherhood they have vowed to share for life. Filled with drugs, violence, money and sex, HITTIN' NUMBERS takes the reader on a journey from the college life to the life of crime. The novel takes unexpected turns filling the pages with vengeance and betrayal as the characters are overwhelmed by greed and the need to recover what they have lost. An unexpected pregnancy and the love of a woman also keep the reader guessing. This novel is a quick read that looks at the bonds of friendship and living in the fast lane. Hittin' Numbers Hits Hard

Unique J. Shannon pens a novel about five college friends (Tre-Von, Don-Q, Bezo, Will & Sparks) who are living it up at Howard University. The guys who all meet on campus have formed The Tree Top Crew and have plans upon becoming business partners upon their graduations. A financial set back threatens Will's education and the guys scheme up a way to come up with Will's tuition money. Tre-Von's uncle Smooth has Brooklyn's Pink Houses on lock so Tre-Von naturally turns to him in his crew's time of need. Uncle Smooth comes up with an easy way for the Tree Top Crew to come up quick. But as with all things easily attained they have a way of disappearing just as quickly. But Tree Top came off so smoothly the first time that they have no qualms about going at it again even without Uncle Smooth's assistance. However the streets of N.Y. teaches the Tree Top Crew an invaluable lesson that no college professor could. Life lessons and the consequences of hasty decision making ensures that readers will come away with a newfound respect for Mr. Shannon as he shows that even college educated males can fall victim to the lure of the streets.

What A Gamble!

Since entering Howard University in Washington D.C. These five friends met and have became road dawgz for life. Calling themselves the Tree Top Thugs they form an extremely close bond with each other. All these young men have good aspirations for their lives. Bezo is a good rapper and music producer. Sparks is majoring in accounting. Don-Q is interested in law. Tre'Von wants to major in business management and they call Will the "tech rat". When Will's father who has bought wealth to his family by investing in the latest technology, makes a bad move with a stock tip, the family loses everything... even the children's college funds that had been put aside. Will is devastated at the thought that he will not be able to finish college. When he tells his friends they all decide to stick together during spring break and find a way to get the money to help Will pay for his tuition. Come along for this roller coaster ride as spring break turns out to be a major turning point in the young lives of these friends. What starts out to be fool-proof plan to help a friend ends with tragic results because of greed and stupidity. This is author Unique J. Shannon's first round in the literary field, and let me say he has scored a knock out with "Hittin Numbers"! This story is fast and exciting, yet Mr Shannon manages to capture a special bond between the friends that had me praying that things will turn out well for each of them. Why oh why did they take it there? If it wasn't for Charisma and Trisha what would they have done. It's always females that hold men down getting them out some mess. I loved the bond that these guys shared with their female friends and the sex scenes were wild and crazy!
