Hundreds of thousands of German boys and girls joined the Hitler Youth, the Nazi youth organization. This volume examines how they were seduced into obeying the Nazis and how their dreams were finally shattered.
My daughter used this book on a Holocaust research paper. She says that it has plenty of information to help you understand how Hitler recruited young people into his army and to gain their trust, and all the tactics he used with them to get them ready to serve under him.

I thought this book did a very good job in helping me to understand the enthusiasm in which the children under Hitler's rule loved him. This book was made for a younger reader but as an adult it showed me the "big picture" of what was happening, and it was not bogged down with long lists of statistics and impersonal facts. It is from the life experiences of a child and very real indeed. There are many black and white photographs and encompases the daily life of Hitler Youth, from the views of boys and girls who lived it. It also includes excerts from children's diaries. The print is a larger font and that also makes it easier to read. This is a great book do "sping" off of for more reading ideas about the WWII topic. This is a great teaching guide for teachers and for adults to read.
