The author examines why school said so little about it when she was growing up in Ireland in the 60s and explores two key questions: why the Famine became so horrendous even by the standards of the time andwhy Britain failed to fully acknowledge and make reparation for its part in it.Based on detailed factual research, it is written as narrative non-fiction to provide for an empathic imagining of the reality and people's suffering.
