Cezar Karpinski's long-awaited book has now become a reality and will deservedly circulate among a wider public. It is the fruit of dedicated and robust historical research, both in the formulation of questions and in the relationship, care and interpretation of sources. It is also the result of more than a decade's worth of studies on the Iguazu River. It is in this matured place of contributions woven over a long and protracted trajectory that the understanding presented here is modulated. We are presented with an interpretation that allows us to map cultural meanings about the areas of nature, which, despite the disparaging imagination of the riverside populations, especially in their values and ways of life, also allows us to map them, to situate them historically in their cultural expressions. Reading them, in turn, gives us a focus, a complex and in-depth understanding of Paran and Brazil in the contexts studied.
