The book is an eyewitness account of the events that happened during the life of the author, Teacher Shehadeh, son of Priest Ibrahim of Birzeit, a Palestinian town north of Ramallah and Jerusalem.The uniqueness of this book is that it is a firsthand account of the events that took place during the transitional period from the Ottoman Rule to the British Mandate. It covers a period of more than 70 years, from 1869 to 1940. It could be equated to eyewitness reporting of our time.The book is also the autobiography of the author. Teacher Shehadeh documents his life during the late 19th, early 20th centuries. He reports on all the cultural, political, religious, and social changes that took place during his lifetime.
