This short booklet describes the long arduous journey taken by the librarians and concerned citizens to establish the city library. There were multiple name changes and relocations (which can be found in the newspaper archives), multiple donors, and many dedicated librarians and teachers. The focus is on the time period between 1864 and 1905. Although every person or organization had the same goal, to establish a library, they all had different agendas. Some wanted to sway people away from the saloons and the wild west lifestyle that was still popular in the city and others wanted to sway people away from polygamy. This is a little known part of Ogden history.
