The young discipline of historical dialog research is dedicated to the study of speech scenes in historical (fictional and non-fictional) texts. It focuses on the forms and functions of oral communication translated into the medium of writing. The field of research is thus at the interface between linguistics, communication studies and literary studies. The series Historische Dialogforschung aims at this interdisciplinary profile, which also allows for decidedly comparative problems. The focus of historical research interest is on the Middle Ages and the early modern period, but perspectives on other epochs are expressly encouraged. The series publishes innovative studies on historical dialog research in the form of anthologies and monographs (including excellent dissertations and post-doctoral theses). The series is edited by Prof. Dr. Nine Miedema, Professor of Medieval German Philology at Saarland University, Prof. Dr. Angela Schrott, Professor of Romance Linguistics at the University of Kassel, and Prof. Dr. Monika Unzeitig, Professor of Older German Language and Literature at the University of Greifswald.
