Saul Bellow won Nobel Prize for literature in 1976. This paper wants to Herzog is a protagonist and academic character and he presents his identity and the society in Bellowˈs novel. The novel is about the crisis in the life of protagonist and inspite of suffering during his life, he can overcome his problem and survives a phase of disintegration. Sinthomatique writing in Saul Bellowˈs Herzog in the form of letter-writing that is related to the Lacanian theory and considers asystem of conscious digging for jouissance. Ultimately, Herzog proves his social responsibility.
