Best Single Reference For Gilded Age, But Overdue for 2E
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 6 years ago
If you are stranded, and your concentration in historical studies is the Gilded Age, this is your One Book. THE single edition for Gilded Age reference (that is, skip the nice but slimmer Scarecrow edition). On the other hand if you are open to spending the money and partially restoring stickers-and-stamps-riddled library references (usually the texts are sublime; very few in schools open the stale old reference books), then additionally purchase the multi-volume set called Encyclopedia of the Gilded Age and Progressive Era (set of three volumes) from the same publisher (M. E. Sharpe). Both this Gilded Age dictionary and the encyclopedia set are higher adult ed. Scarcrow is more HS level. FOUR stars because this edition is getting long in the tooth. Time for 2E!
