Historic Homes and Properties Tours Nelson County, Virginia

The inspiration for this book, Historic Homes and Properties Tours Nelson County, Virginia, came from her desire to make available a comprehensive photograph book for all the Society sponsored tours. This publication includes a photograph of each property and a short description of the many sites that have been on the historic tours sponsored by the Nelson County Historical Society. This book is intended to cover only the homes and properties that have been on the twenty-six Society sponsored tours. It is by no means all of the historic properties that are in the county. The photographs are from the Society files and taken at the time of the tours, in keeping with the year they were on the tour, with only a few exceptions to fill in missing photographs. Property locations are listed by communities and not exact addresses in respect to the owners. Family associations have changed and some ownerships may not be included, but the intent is to record the initial family ownership with some subsequent ownerships. The text about each property is primarily from the brochures that were printed and distributed prior to each tour. More information about these properties is available in the research files of the Nelson County Historical Society. In the source for each entry, the year that the property was on the tour is listed.
