I am surprised that there was no review written about this book, or any other book, by this author; because this really was a very well written story: the plot was unique and interesting, characters were lively and believable, and the way Ms. Whitmore played out the story was simply captivating... well, there were couple of flaws in the characters development (such as the heroine and her cousin bantering with each other really made them behaved silly and immature) , but they were all justified in the end. And I particularly like the hero, Lord Harry Vane, I could see why the heroine fell in love with him. I would, too. From back of the book: She was heiress to a mountain of debts and a legacy of independence. Marriage for money was unthinkable! So Philadelphia Prentiss entered the world of commerce: as proprietress of a fashionable London boardinghouse for titled young men only. Too soon for comfort Philadelphia learned that it took more than a title to make a man a gentleman! But she was determined to maintain the reputation of The Rochester-even if it meant evicting the dashing general, Lord Harry Vane, who dazzled her as no man ever had with his mastery and total self-assurance. For the first time she had to ask herself the most troubling question of all: Could she trust herself alone with such a man? This was a fun story been intelligently told, with no real villain and no sex, just a good old-fashioned romance. I strongly recommend it.
