Sometimes you can be your own best cheerleader Eight-year-old Annie McRae is irresistible--with her toothless grin, turquoise-blue cowboy boots, and her upbeat twist on life, she spends most days surrounded by cheers of "Hip, hip, hooray for Annie McRae " from Mom, Dad, Mr. Garcia, and Grandma C. But what happens when the grownups are too busy to cheer? Don't you worry--Annie pulls herself up by the bootstraps and realizes that the best "hip, hip, hoorays" come from herself and caring for others. - As an added bonus, readers can try to spy the "hidden" horseshoes in each illustration Lexile: 800L
This is such a darling book. My 5- and 7-year-old granddaughters will enjoy it. It is a happy book for young girls. It encourages happiness and friendliness as important qualities for young girls to have. The text is writen in an encouraging attitude to keep young girls' attention as they read. The book exposes girls to happiness and some excellent communication skills. I recommend it highly.

I bought this book, recommended by a friend, and it has such a good message for kids! It's about Annie, who is used to having everyone pat her on the back and one day, it seems everyone is too busy. She learns that she has the power to make herself feel good and make those around her feel good too. My son and I really enjoy this book!

What a wonderful children's book! Not only is Annie McCrae fun to read, beautifully illustrated, and refreshingly positive, but it is also a teaching tool. What parent or teacher would not want to sit down with a child and read the story of Annie McCrae--a little girl who learns to become her own best cheerleader? Children's books are wonderful, and there are a ton of well-illustrated, fun-to-read children's books out there. Classic children's books, however, go a little deeper and teach lessons for life. Annie McCrae is one such book. Hip, Hip, Hooray for Brad Wilcox and the classic tale of Annie McCrae! I can't wait to see what Annie learns next.
Hip, Hip, Hooray for Cute Books Like This!

This little book is a delightful addition to the world of children's literature. I love the catchy, colorful cover and the western theme throughout. I like the fact that Annie is a strong female character. We need more characters like that in the books of today. This book catches the attention of all who see it and the children respond to the western vocabulary and repeated phrase, "Hip, hip, hooray for Annie McRae." Pretty soon the kids start putting their own names or the names of their friends in place of Annie which just goes to show that it's a good book that kids remember and learn from. It's a book that gives a lesson without being overly obvious and cheesy. Yet it holds a special charm that makes it fun. I loved it and recommend it highly.
