This book is based on a series of interviews with Hilda Thieberger, Holocaust survivor, for the Oral History Project, Jewish Community Council of Greater Washington on July 25, 1989. The interview was conducted by Gail Schwartz. Those transcripts were editing and compiled for publication by Hilda's granddaughter, Lori. The horrific stories of near-starvation, torture, and dehumanization are hard to process. Hilda, her husband, Erwin, and a few members of their family persevered and survived.
