Great for hiking

This book is great for exploring the Uintas. It has long and short hike reviews.

Great book. Good coverage for High Uintahs hikes.

Very good descriptions, directions, and coverage of 99 hikes. My only wish is that it covered more hikes, but it gets the main ones and no real complains. If you want to explore the area, get this book.

I Love this book, but can't quite give it 5 stars

I have read this entire book and I love it. The descriptions are great, and the amount of information is unprecedented. If you want information about the High Uintas this is the best book out there. My complaint stems from inaccuracies regarding distance. In fairness, I only have found a problem with one of the hikes, so I can't say whether or not this is a problem throughout the book. I went with a couple of buddies to hike Spider Lake (Hike #36 in the book) and every thing described was correct, except the mileage and trailhead. The book states that the hike is 15.5 miles round trip from the Hell's Canyon Trailhead but we found it to be different. Just FYI: We didn't leave from the Hell's Canyon Trailhead (which is east of the Center Park Trailhead - the book incorrectly states that it is west) we left from the Center Park Trailhead which actually looks a little closer to Spider Lake than the Hell's Canyon Trailhead. My friend and I both had GPS units on the trail. We tracked our mileage and it turns out that the hike is 20 miles out and back, not 15.5 as the book states. Granted this isn't the end of the world, but this was a very difficult hike (as the book correctly points out) and 4.5 additional miles on a 3-day trip can be significant. All things considered this is an excellent resource. I still rate it 4 stars, but feel I needed to point out my experience.

Excellent resource!

This is a great resource for utah trails. Descriptions and trail information are perfect to help hikers find the right path for an adventure.
