A rogue band of North Korean commandos led by Colonel Jung Li kills the Russian crew manning a mobile ICBM and steal the warhead. A short time later, he and his men board the Alaskan Princess. Chuck Taylor, a construction worker, and Lisa Fontaine, a nurse, also board the ship for what they hope to be a pleasant getaway. Just as the ship reaches international waters, the commandos hijack it with weapons they smuggled on board. They lock all the passengers in their rooms as Li's helicopter brings aboard the modified bomb. Li orders the captain to head for LA, intending on detonating the 800-megaton warhead there. Chuck knows this is not a normal hijacking. Unable to sit by and do nothing, he breaks out of his room. His first encounter with a Korean guard is a disaster. It does, however, start the action-packed adventure as the commandos search for the unlikely hero. Chuck slowly gets the hang of the use of weapons and fights. While all this is going on, the president of the United States orders the Navy to find and sink the ship before it reaches land. And so, while one hunt is going on board the ship, another is happening in the ocean as the entire Northern Pacific Fleet follows clues to the cruise ship's whereabouts. It is a race against time. Chuck must find some way of disabling the bomb before the Navy finds them. If he doesn't, then everyone on the ship will die. If he fails, and Colonel Li is successful in eluding the Navy, then millions will die in Los Angeles.
