A narrative of an Irish boy growing up in an Italian neighborhood. This is the East Side story Neal Shine didn't tell you...sleeping three kids in a twin bed, avoiding Father Geller's confessional,... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a wonderful book mostly about young boys, growing up in the late 1930s and 1940s in the city of Detroit, and their families. You will smile as you read about their antics and imagination, and when you are finished you will read it all over again because it made you feel good. It is also an interesting look at life after the depression when people were just getting on their feet again and "made do" with what they had. Should be made into a movie.
