Aware that highly gifted individuals display high levels of creativity, a strong engagement with activities related to their areas of talent, and above-average performance in specific fields of knowledge (RENZULLI, 1997) this discussion is grounded in authors who describe the influence of globalisation on schools and the expansion of school resources and experiences, such as Bauman (1999), Santos (2006), Hall (1998), Castells (2008, 2009) Gardner (2004, 1995) and Renzulli (2004, 1997, 1955), amongst others. Thus, this book aims to present a study that investigated how individuals with high abilities/giftedness report the influence of school on the development and stimulation of abilities incorporating contemporary elements.
