When newlyweds Maisie and Fraser Hamilton travel to Paris for their honeymoon, it's for business as well as pleasure. A French company could be implicated in the biggest case of their lives - but getting through the door is proving impossible.

Paris isn't as congenial as Maisie hoped, either. She's tired of sightseeing and their hotel is full of elderly British expats, including a Foreign Office contact who is worse than useless.

When one of the expat circle dies unexpectedly, the Hamiltons are caught between continuing their mission and investigating what they suspect is a murder. This is made all the more difficult because they are operating incognito, and in a few days Fraser must return to London and police work.

At last, an ally promises the information they need. But just as their luck seems to be turning, a twist leaves the pair at best disgraced and at worst, murder suspects.
