Widowed with two children and beginning to lose her faith, Eliza Wyatt (Sydney Penny) must bring in the harvest before the bank forecloses on her family's home. Just when things can't get any worse, fate brings along hope in the form of Gabe Harper (Jason Gedrick), a handsome, down-on-his luck veteran. Together Eliza and Gabe overcome the odds to save Wyatt Orchard with the help of stubborn but lovable Aunt Batty (Shirley Jones). Hidden Places is a triumphant tale of faith, family and commitment.
Saw this movie online and liked it enough to buy it. Really good story line, especially between the two lead characters and how their relationship develops. Two people who really need each other actually find each other. I did, however find the dialog, especially that of Eliza, a bit odd, and certain things seemed to be left to the imagination. I bought the book to see how it compared and didn't want to put it down. There was no guessing as to how much time elapsed between scenes and the characters were so much more developed, especially that of Aunt Batty. In the book we know so much more about her. Poor Shirley Jone didn't have much to work with. Again, though, while the movie veered away from the book quite a bit, it's a good stand-alone story, just directorially amateurish.
