This is a great book to read because it talks about what goes on in a family after someone important dies. It also tells what you can do if a situation like this happens to you. This is also a great book to read to a family or to children. The author, Todd Strasser, uses the main characters, the conflict, the resolution, the setting and the events to keep the reader wanting more. I couldn't put this book down. Read on if you want to find out more about this fantastic book. In the story "Hey, Dad, Get A Life", there are many settings consisting of the main character's house, her school, her team's soccer field, and at a soccer dinner. The two settings talked about the most were the main character's house and her school. I would say this story is based on modern life time. The settings in the story help the story fit together very well. For example, the main character's father died and now he returns as a ghost. The author uses the setting of the main character's house to make her father's spirit appear only when she is around or when her sister is around. Read on more to find out the names of the two main characters. The names of the two main characters are Kelly and Sasha who are sisters. These two have many ups and downs because their father has died. After Sasha realized her father was in the form of a ghost, she told Kelly but she didn't believe Sasha. When Kelly found out her father was a ghost, both Kelly and Sasha became eager to ask for things and they felt happy. Kelly used her father to win soccer games, do homework, and get A's on her math tests. Sasha used her father to comfort her, to put her socks and shoes on, and to learn how to ride a bike. Want to learn about the conflict and if they resolved it? Read on. The conflict of the story is Kelly and Sasha misses their father very much and is miserable. Kelly keeps wishing that her father was there to be overprotective. Sasha keeps crying and wishing her father was there with her. Anytime Sasha was sad and wished her father was there, she would hide in her father's closet and wished he was there. Kelly and Sasha resolved their conflict by getting their mother to help them through their sorrow. When Kelly and Sasha tell their mother that their father is a ghost, she doesn't believe her daughters. So Kelly and Sasha make plans to prove it to their mother. Finally, they are successful. Then the family remembers something very important. Their father wants them to take care of themselves. So the mother made Kelly and Sasha stop asking their father to do things for them. Now let me tell you my opinion of the story, "Hey, Dad, Get A Life." I think the story was very well written and that is why I gave it a five star rating. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a ghost parent? Well, in this book it talks about a girl named Kelly whose dad died. Then her dad comes back as a ghost! Kelly begins to ask her dad for so many things, he gets tired of it. Will he keep spoiling her or will he stop doing whatever she desires, and be a good parent? I think it was a great book and I enjoyed it so much because it was suspenseful and full of exciting parts. Once you start reading it, you cant stop!

My daughter has ADD and is a reluctant reader, usually choosing books under her current reading level and short in length (60-70 pages). She devoured this book in just a few days and would not put it down until done. She loved it! I would like to give the author a hug for finally helping my girl break through. Read it!
