HESHIMA TO HOTEP Respect to Peace Seven Steps to Educational Excellence: Subtitle: A Facilitator's Framework for Transforming Schools Through Afrocent

By Freya Anderson Rivers

Heshima to Hotep: Respect to Peace - Seven Steps to Educational Excellence presents a powerful framework for transforming schools through culturally grounded and Afrocentric educational principles.

Originally developed through the work of the Sankofa Shule and The Genius Academy, Dr. Freya Anderson Rivers outlines seven essential steps that guide educators, school leaders, and facilitators in building learning environments rooted in respect, cultural awareness, intellectual rigor, and ethical responsibility.

Drawing from African-centered philosophy, the principles of MAAT, Sankofa, and the Nguzo Saba, the book challenges traditional approaches to schooling and offers an alternative vision of education that nurtures both academic excellence and the development of the whole child. Rivers emphasizes identity, community, character, and deep intellectual engagement as essential components of effective teaching and learning.

This facilitator's framework provides practical insight for educators seeking to transform classrooms, schools, and communities through culturally responsive practices and high expectations for student achievement.

Combining philosophy, historical grounding, and practical application, Heshima to Hotep serves as both a guide and a call to action for educators committed to building schools where dignity, excellence, and peace guide the educational journey.
