Learned more than I thought.

Heritage Writing, besides being an interesting book to read, is a great reference book to keep around. It makes me want to write stories about my own childhood and about my parents--which is good, because I'm making them into little booklets to give to the children and grandchildren for Christmas presents. Heritage Writing sends me off in so many directions and makes me try writing in so many areas and from different points of view that I am amazed, especially since I didn't used to write personal things, certainly not about my own life. When I've given Heritage Writing as a gift, the recipients have told me several times how much they like it and use it. Good book! I like it very much.

Why haven't I read Heritage Writing before this?

When my walking partner told me that the president of one of the Northwest's largest writing organizations keeps Heritage Writing on her desk to tell people about, I thought, "Why haven't I seen this book before?" So I got it and just could not read it all the way through because after a few pages I had to start writing. Then I read it in the commercials, but had to get out some paper and a pen and write some more. I finally finished the whole book, but I still reread parts and use the lists over and over. I love this book. As a result of using it, I have a whole bunch of little stories written. Not only that, but they're even organized like the author suggests, so that I can find whichever one I'm looking for.
