Her Life, His Story

Romans 8:17 tells us, "And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified together." In other words, if we are a child of God, we will suffer as Christ suffered while we live this life. This is one of Tonya Ferguson's favorite verses. But as she lived her life and raised her young family, she had no idea that she would taste so much of Christ's suffering in her lifetime. Through her journey of multiple surgeries due to having a disease called Avascular Necrosis, she clings to a new verse. Now Philippians 4:13 is her battle cry. She knows that Jesus is with her and He keeps her strong to do all He calls her to do. Even in her deepest valley, Christ is her fortress and the rock she stands on. Her life becomes His story as she shares her journey through the valleys of illness and emotional suffering. The dark places that she has went through turn into a masterpiece work of art displaying God's grace, love, mercy, and redemption.
