On the ancient shoreline of southwestern Lake Michigan lies Chicago, an American city occupied by many peoples in search of love, happiness, and meaning, perhaps at times permitting various temporary substitutes for the foregoing, and by those who pursue the hope of the Chicago Cubs baseball team winning a National League Pennant... maybe... even the World Series Championship of baseball. Oh, really? Yes, it happened. Really. Meanwhile... there were, and are now again, substitutes: Chicago pizza, Chicago hot dogs, the Art Museum, the city's professional hockey and basketball teams, the American Baseball League's Chicago White Sox, and a few taverns, scattered here and there. Some prefer the Western Tavern, on Chicago's Southside, after a long evening of work in the skyscrapers lining the affluent downtown area on Michigan Avenue...
