It contains historical facts that document the life and times of Henry Berry Lowry and his gang during the Civil War Era.The Lowry Gang helped end the transportation of young Native American boys to Wilmington where they were forced to construct Fort Fisher under unstable working conditions.The Lowry Gang and the Home Guard fought their own civil war which was known as the Lowry War. The Lowry War was a series of raids and murders of political figures and plantation owners. The novel details Henry and Rhoda's life together and also Rhoda's life after Henry's disappearance. Henry and the Gang fought for racial equality. The controversy they faced in the 1800s is still a relevant issue in today's society. This is why the author has chosen to publish the book.
